have yet to use 440. yes its mobile. the one i have my eyes set on is this one for dual band usage: Ham Radio Outlet | LARSEN NMO-2/70 BLACK | BLACK NMO-2/70 ANTENNA 2M/440
a local just bought it checked it out sounds good, looks good. tho it might be a little tall not as tall as what i have so...

I have radios in the 451.000 range, some with 18'' base loads and some with 6'' base loads and the longer antennas hit the repeater up to 50 miles and the shorter struggles to hit it at 20 miles.

Soooo it's just like comparing the Wilson 5k to the Wilson lil will when it comes to tx/rx capabilities.

You could always camouflage the longer of the 2, how is another kettle of fish.

The reason I want it shorter is it messes with the match on hf even with the tuner maybe its too close... I have three antennas. Wilson5k, 5/8 2m , radshack nmo scanner antenna. All on nmo mountas except the Wilson. Each is 14" apart. But because the 2m antenna at the whip it leans torwarda the Wilson. Ill figure something out I like that comet. Right now I'm using a 440 stealth for 2m and it hits the repeaters 10 miles away.

Do you listen to the scanner and the ham radio at the same time?

If not, get a dual band antenna like I showed you earlier and put an antenna switch in the vehicle to the radio and scanner and just use the dual band antenna for the scanner

I have used one of these, the magnet is the size of a quarter and it held at 80+mph and off road.

Use this for the scanner and get a decent dual bander
