This has actually been a great amplifier until lately. It contains 3 30kd6's and is transformerless. The tubes were getting pretty flat then suddenly it popped. I have a total of 4 resistors out. They are the same in pairs and I have identified one pair but no luck with the others. I removed one hoping I could see better a color band maybe but no luck.

Anybody know who makes this amplifier or has one like it. I have actually seen several sell on ebay over the years.......which I could contact somebody now that could tell me the resistor color bands. I have identified brown as the 1st band and gold as the 4th. Im lost on the other 2 though.

If I remember correctly this was a Crusader 300 Base Amp. Not the best of designs, some say even an electrocution waiting to happen due to its lack of a transformer. I had one many years ago, It died, I fixed it, then got rid of it....

I think I still have a Schematic for this fellow though finding it could be a project, I'll wait and see if someone else chimes in with the info, if not I'll do some digging.

Was just thinking about this a little more, may have also been badged under other names.... LDO come to mind as well as another I cannot remember.

I have never heard of a crusader but I know what you mean about the no transformer haha. I am actually very partial to this amp though and would love to get it going again quickly. There is literally nothing to them if I had the schematics there would be no problem.

i had one of those transformerless amps ,it was mint .lost it when i got hit by lightning.i think just the keyup resistors went or something .i forget who made those ,for tube amp questions get ahold of "alan" at tubesplus.com......he is very helpfull and can probably even tell you who made that amp.i doubt he work on it though.nobody really wanted to touch mine because you gotta take the whole chassis apart to get to the solder side of the board ,theres no other way.and theres a electrocusion hazard as well because the chassis is hot on those i was told.
funny thing was when i first bought mine i went to pick it up at the ladies house and when i picked it up i nearly threw it in the air it was sooo light.i was expecting to pick up a heavy amp ya know ..lol..

oh...and those tall caps in there you see,they are holding a big charge ..enough to lay ya flat out you get bit by that amp.so be carefull inside that thing .it can hold power for days i think unless you discharge them.

I appreciate all the help so far guys! I will call tubeplus also to see if I can get some more help there. You are correct about removing the entire chassis though which I already did. I just need to swap out these 4 resistors and put the new tubes in it. Be nice to have my little base amp up and running.

I was actually always told this amplifier was called a Barefoot 300. What is actually pretty awesome is I found another person on CBradiotalk.com that has the same amplifier - saw it in a picture. He sent me some pics of the inside he had on his computer and it is identical. He also said it was called a Barefoot but its actually supposed to have (3) 36KD6'S in it. Might be why the resistors finally went out too......

I just need to identify from the color bands what resistors are in the pic he sent me but when I blow it up its very hard to tell. I did notice that all 3 resistors in his amp appear the same and one of mine are different. I am sure somebody probably replaced one at sometime. I'm going to try to identify what the last remaining one is. Maybe its just a newer resistor but the rating is the same?? I hope!

Like I said this amp was Branded under multiple names, I'll dig through my junk and see if I can find the Schematic. The one I had which WAS the same amplifier was called Crusader 300. The tubes in yours could be original, only difference is the heater (filament) voltage.
