We all (countries) survived the 1930 depression
Likewise the depressions after WW2

Only difference is that the economic blocks differ a bit from then.
Compared to the 700 billion dollars the EEC has put up 2000 + billions
The Asian block now starts to do the same.
Japan in a mess, depending on export, high value of the Yen
Euro falling against thee Dollar, making our export go up, lower prices in the USA for European goods.
Economy in the Netherlands still growing, but slow
Unemployement still falling less as 3%

Think we will see some problems next year, but we don't have a big debt as country to start with.
We do trade with the USA, but the 500 million Europeans are our mmain trade partners.

Hope things will go better soon for us all.

Why does everyone get so worked up when the stock market goes down?

Relax! They are just having a sale.

Everybody is thinking in financial crisis mode while JP morgan buys up competitors for pennys on the dollar. While our attention is on the "crisis", they are skirting anti-trust laws while we're not looking. These big financial holding companies have great power to make the stock market move the way they want it.

You think this bailout money is going to help make credit more available?
Seems for now all its doing is providing capital for buying-out competitors.
