It's human nature to want what we're denied.

A lot of the ham community try and segregate the band plan just like southern folks did up until the 60's when they were forced into integration which resulted in some rioting but eventually settled into acceptance and the ham community will sacum the inevitable.

The "elistist" (as you call it) didn't prevent HIM from getting the ticket. There is NO age limit. If you can PASS the test, you get the license! Simple.

People just want EVERYTHING handed to them on a platter and don't want to work for it. If he is required to DO something, it's too much trouble. Society has been raised on a diet of I-am-entitled-the-world-"owes"-me-and-I-am-entitled-to-sit-on-my-a**-and-do-nothing-for-everything! Even a little test is too much. C'mon! "Elitist"? I DOUBT it!!!!!!! Everybody gets to take the same test. And FOR that and the willingness to follow a few rules that DO promote safety, courtesy, on-air procedures, and organization, you get THOUSANDS of frequencies (not "channels") and technology not offered by CB radios. Everybody has an equal chance.
I don't see ANYTHING "elitist" about it!!!! Ain't it funny how quick we are to assign labels to people! If you don't like illegal immigration, you're a "racist"! The discussion of race didn't even enter into it, but if you don't LIKE a horde of ILLEGAL people sneaking into our country, you're a racist! (I don't care if he is a little green man from MARS, if he sneaks into the country without permission, he has NO right or reason to BE here and should be forced OUT) If you don't like having illegal radio people invading the bands you studied to use, you are an "elitist", but, yet, YOU have the same opportunity I and every other ham had---including that 8 year old!!!!
I still ain't sure if your living in the dark ages of elitism or are just a troll who jerks off to controversy, either way you are completely out of touch with reality, many cb users are far superior operators too ham operators and vice versa, many cb operators are far more technically minded than many ham ops and vice versa, some cb'ers are complete f@cking morons and ironically so are some hams, you scream to get cb radios that can be opened up banned yet hypocritically sit on a ham radio that for most cb'ers who convert radios is even easier to open up.all you do is expose your complete devotion to narrowmindedness, elitism, bigotry, hatred and no doubt substantial quatities of jealousy.

what is your problem?

does the 11m pirate that you despise so much get better contacts, longer distances or more qsl's than you do,or is it just down to the fact that he is more interesting than you and people enjoy speaking to him whilst you sit boring the @rse of everyone with the same old rhetoric and hatred.in all the posts you've written i don't recall once where you've actually helped anyone or offered technical advice, maybe your radio knowledge is like your attitude, completely superficial and as shallow as a puddle.

as for getting frequencies and not channels, you better tell the police, maritime, aviation etc communities they have sub standard systems of radios because guess what, they use channels too.

on many occasions i have been accused of an anti ham radio bias, but in all honesty i have much respect for many knowledgeable hams and many friends who happen to be hams, its moaning minnies, bullshitters and elitest halfwits like yourself i have the utmost contempt for whether they be cb'ers or hams because they are pathetic, sad, curtain twitching individuals with absolutely no life at all.

To me this isn't a Ham vs. CB thing. I was proposing an entry level license that only required basic knowledge of the rules and safety. CWM, try to open up your mind a bit to what it could be like. You were the one that was wining about the existing test being too easy, but the fact is that it is a barrier to most people getting into ham radio. I can't count the number of people that have shown interest in what I'm doing and then I show them the tech book and they say "forget it".

What is the harm in having a very basic license that only requires basic knowledge of rules and safety? Most 6 and 8 year olds cannot pass the tech test because it requires math skills that aren't taught until middle school (Ohm's law requires pre-algebra skills). The fact that you were impressed that you were talking to an 8 year old proves my point that it doesn't happen often. We need to make it easier for people to get into ham radio or the hobby will continue to decline. Period. It has nothing to do with "cb vs. ham"
