Default Best Mobile CB antenna

I use my CB alot when mobile and use a Sirio megawatt 4000. i think this is a very good antenna indeed and it gets out with 80watts well

is there any other antenna out there that i may not be familiar with that will out peform the sirio 4000pl?

i know alot of people rave on about wilsons but i think the sirio is much better

I don't know if I can help you clear anything up - but...
I have and use a Wilson 1000 mag-mount - and will not use another antenna.
It has performed beyond all of my expectations - including/especially skip or local talk.
For the money spent - I think it is very hard to beat...

Predator 10K...Probably not avalible anywhere in London, but there's quite a few in the UK that have bought Predators...

If your interested, and can't find a shop that will ship outside the US, then give Kale a call @ 817-790-6239 (Fort Worth TX.) and I'm sure he will fix ya up! Kale is the builder and has shipped the 10K's all over the World for people.

The 10K is an excellent antenna but jessejamesdallas should have stated up front that he has more in this than just being a customer.

The Wilsons work just as well but no better than a 4000, they just cost more.
The only way you will improve is to get a true 1/4 wave whip that has no loading coil, but you can't drive around with one on the car unless you want to buy a triple mag mount or a puck mount or similar, and there is really not much of a difference in performance, maybe 1/2 an S point or less. The 10K's are the same, no improvement in performance, only benefit is you can stick a few KW's up them if you happen to have a big amp in the car.

If you want to improve the performance of the 4000 then get rid of the mag mount and bolt it to the centre of the roof, making sure you have a good ground connection there (I'm assuming your using a mag mount).

Back-up a bit...I have NO vested Interest in Cowtown Antenna's or the Predator 10K Antenna's...However, I have tested enough antenna's against the 10K's to know that they are well worth every penny they sell for. And apparently the people that makes Tram Antenna's thinks so to...Otherwise, they wouldn't have Cloned the Predator's...

How much is the 10k with all of the fixins?
I mean with their mount, coax, and all hardware necessary to get it on the air.
Compare that to the cost of a Wison 1000 mag mount...
I thought so!

in my own and friends tests on different vehicles both locally and when we drive up holme moss or sutton bank for a keydown the 4000hp beats the base loaded wilson 1000/5000 but both suffer from floppy whips been much too bendy when mobile, @70mph the hp4000 is layed back at 90 degrees,
the hp5000 also has the edge over the wilsons and has a better quality stiffer whip, neither of the sirio's are up to wilson quality in coil construction,

the 22" predator beats them all when stationary and gives more stable signals when mobile, the 27" is similar in performance and slightly more stable at speed,
stable signals are important to me as a foxhunter, floppy hp4000's are crap for foxhunting,

the downside is predators are not dc grounded and receive more noise near trafficlights ect,
if you use a magmount you need a minimum of a tripple 6.5" mag for the 22" or a quad 6.5" mag for the 27" shaft predator,
the larger the surface area of magnet and thinner the rubber boot the better they work but no mag is as good as drilling a hole,

vehicle size and shape effect any antennas performance, for instance my new hp4000 did not do any better than my valor 520 halfbreed on my fiesta but soundly beat the halfbreed on both the escort and passat estate,
the bit you buy and stick up in the air is only half of your mobile antenna,

i mount all my antennas in the middle of the roof for ridearound mobile use,

the only antenna i have found so far that beats the predator mobile and stationary is a full size 1/4wave avanti hippo whip,
my shaki 1/4wave wondershaft has the edge too but does not tune low enough on my car,
stainless 1/4waves also have a small edge when stationary but sway too much in the wind and lose out to the predator when moving at speed.
