OK guys,going back OTR next week and i need help finding an antenna location because the factory locations are crap!. I know they make a mount that mounts to the back of the cab ( i think it's called an outback ) but is there another place or another mount i can use?

Don't want to spend $50.00 for a mount if i dont have to.

Also. Have any of you every tried re doing the factory coax in these trucks and if so is it hell to do?

There's nothing really wrong with the factory coax unless you intend to run much power and yes replacing the factory coax like trying to castrate a cat without a boot unless you use your head and that is as simple as cutting the ends off inside and soldering the center leads of the old to the new and then pull each side back out through the mirror brackets.

Make sure your new to old connection is as smooth as possible by wrapping it with electrical tape and don't try to pull it through the grommets.

also up inside the radio mounting console is a cable harness with bnc connectors
hmmmmm not for me they wont.
also there is a single coax hanging down thru the hole up inside is a matching unit to run 2 antennas
this unit will not take very much rf

take some pics from all around the truck then post them and then we can give you more ideas.

if there is a handbar behind the cab say a foot or so below the top of cab then you can get a 22 or 27 inch shaft 10k and mirror mount
some flat strap and some 213 coax then you ready for some talking

Yeah,this truck is like the T-2000 with the antenna mounts on top of each side of the sleeper and it would be hell to try and pull the old coax from the dash all the way out the top of the sleeper! And these things always suffered from poor grounding so i dont think it would even be worth trying to change the coax.

The truck has the stacks on the back of the sleeper so there is not one long grab handle running across the length of the cab,i dont even think there is a grab handle back there at all. I know they make whats called an outback mount built just for these trucks but until i am certain that i will be happy driving for this guy,i really dont want to spend $50 for a antenna mount.

Does it have the condo cab or just an air dam up top? if so you could roof mount, like I said if you're not running power don't worry about the mounts and just run a good short ground from the radios chassis to the firewall or nearest metal and I always run some bonding straps from the firewall or across the cab hinges to the frame which should cure most grounding issues.
