I've had my DX2547 for almost 2 years, and I like the rig very much. In my opinion, there's nothing "cheesy" about it. The only thing I didn't really care for is the mic; it's a typical Galaxy stock hand mic that's adequate, but nothing special. I use a D-104 on it, and get great audio reports on both
AM and
SSB.
The radio is well made, works great (excellent receiver), sounds great, looks as good as it does in the pictures (maybe better), and is reliable. Mine is 100% stock-out-of-the-box, too. I've considered mods, but it works so well that I've decided to leave it alone. Hope that helps.
