Fortunately, I don't use power in my mobile. Since a small alternator in a newer car doesn't mix well. Running the Galaxy 99V and the Sirio Z-180, I called out on .580/USB when driving to the computer store the other day. Had my best DX in a mobile - to date - when I snagged a station coming out of Ireland to California. Since I was driving, I couldn't write down his call. But he was coming in between 5 and 7 S-units. He had me at/about the same reading.
I could have put a wet noodle up on the top of my car and snagged some DX yesterday. There were some other stations trying to call back to me at that time; but I had to take care of some business. Just 35 watts on SSB did the job! I was/ am impressed. Conditions are still strong today.
