I'm proud to finally announce that.....
The City of Ocean City (NJ) Office of Emergency Management is Amateur Radio capable
Phase one of my three phase plan is finally complete as of today (Friday 7 August 2009 at 15:30 EDT) the first transmission via 70 Cm D-Star went out to a 25 watt repeater 35 miles away with a full strength return signal.
Other tests were done on 2 meter analog, and simplex with outstanding results.
Our station antenna, a Diamond X50A is approximately 70 feet above ground, 85 feet above sea level, our Icom ID-800H transmits 55 watts on high power, giving us excellent coverage over 4 Counties, and parts of 3 others on 2 meters and 70 Cm
FM analog, and digital voice.
Once I get a computer issued to me I will be working on learning the D-Rats software, and once phase 2 is funded and I purchase
IC-92AD
HT's with GPS speaker mics, I will set them up on APRS so we can track our CERT teams in the field.
The last phase will be an
HF radio and antenna.
