Default Races/Ares anti-gun?

I was thinking about joining Races/Ares group. I decided it would be important to read the rules before joining.

It appears that the local group is against guns in general.

This seems very odd to me. These are emergency groups? If the S really does hit the fan, having a gun might be a really good idea.

Is this a local thing or a national thing?

Are they actively politically, anti-gun?

BTW, I don't consider myself a radical. I spend most of my time in gov. locations where I could not carry legally. This just rubs me the wrong way. It would be the same as if someone asked me to signing away my right to freedom of speech, or religion or told me how to vote. This just rubs me the wrong way.

When the Supreme Court incorporates the 2nd Ammendment to States, it might not matter

I can only hope!

Must be some local shankappotymousses. Have no idea why they even mentioned it. Can't see what communications and guns has to do with each other.

My guess is that they are trying to avoid any irrational responses in a potentially volatile situation . Or during an exercise where it may appear to the public that a real situation is taking place by maybe seeing a firearm on the belt of one of the members . A person walking around with a gun on their side and a radio in their hand looks like law enforcement . That's just a guess.
