Ya do pay for what ya get so I forked up the $339.00 and got some real good quality!! |
I hope you enjoy your Falcon. Still have mine....probably because it's in unsaleable condition - or wouldn't get near enough out of it due to the problems it has.
It is indeed a screaming talker. Big modulation and that 4 mosfet array really has the swing to its thing.
The internal fan in mine went out. Major fooking surgery to replace it. It is hopeless. So I have two muffin fans strapped to the bottom of it. Ugly but effective.
Also the Starlight face display lighting is making that high-pitched whining noise that they end up making and that is annoying. You can turn the whole display lighting off and that kills the noise. There's supposed to be a fix for this by adding a capacitor and I tried it but it had no effect.
The roger beep won't work when the radio is cold (winter temps). Rig has to be on and talking on it for a while to get warmed up before it starts working.
So besides these breakdowns the radio is okay. Don't think I'd spring these bucks for another one though. |
