Thumbs up Review, 100W Galaxy DX 94HP

Came in today. Was "on sale" for $344.95 at Walcott CB in Iowa. Free ship and took their conversion, peak & tune for extra $25

Well shit fire I'm delighted with the thing so far. Long list of features. AM/SSB, no FM. All blue lights, meter, freq. counter which can be turned off, and channel display. Lights with dimmer control. "Starlight" nameplate illuminates all function labels for easy night viewing.. Galaxy's large analog multi-function meter. 2 - double function built in echo. Function 1 is echo & delay. Function 2 is voice changer robotic? type sounds. Great working variable talkback that can be turned off. Switchable roger beep. Effective noise blanker. Very effective-responsive rf gain. Factory open (or came with the conversion) Clarifier with coarse/fine tune, frequency counter tracks the changes.

Sales note stated the tech tune-up produced 110W bird meter, AM. I have a Dosy meter (PM 2001 TS), that has always been fairly accurate to any other meter I've compared it with, and is giving the same reading. This is AM. It was showing 150W on SSB.

The thing must have something similar to the Magnum style {modulator} circuit as it is effortlessly swinging to the full 110W on AM from any setting, including the lowest which was dead on 4 watts. Modulation is very strong with factory hand mic, pegging out the meter on modulation. Maybe that's just how the four 25 watt Mosfets work.
Several on air reports is very loud, clean and clear, with great sounding echo.

Lowest freq is 25.165 and tops out at 28.775

Double fused (30 amp) 12 gauge power cord.

So I be very happy with it. It is operating better than I expected and had a perfect, smooth transaction over the phone with Walcott.

They are a damn fine radio. I've had mine since last July. Running it with a Wilson 1000 on my pick up. You will be happy with it.

Only problem I've had so far is that the roger beep comes and goes. Leave it turned on all the time. Sometimes I gets me a beep, sometimes not. Probably a cold solder joint. Going to take it by a local shop to check. It's under warranty and all but I don't want to send it off and be without it for a couple of weeks just over that. Otherwise it is great. Big signal generator and big audio monster with the amazing swing. Built in echo sounds awesome.

they dont come from the factory with top gun modulator.one could install
it though.sounds like they clipped the limiter or just bypassed the amc vr
either is a terrible way to tune a radio

The 'big rig' Galaxy DX radios are known for their clean, loud audio. They don't need a 'swing kit' or a top gun modulator to achieve it. Enjoy the new radio!
