????????????????????????????

I'm not sure of the challenge from Mr Marbles or what his question is, but as a pilot (medical now dead) I agree with QRN.
Scanners and consumer electronic gear *may* generate interference to avionics. Can anyone answer this question or clarify--I'm lost here. If you have had an instrument failure in-flight, you'd know why pilots are nervous about interference! It is just TOO important to take the chance. I took off one day in a Cessna when, as I climbed out of the pattern, my instruments failed; altimeter, airspeed--all but the
compass! I returned and landed without incident, but what if it had been marginal conditions (I wouldn't taken off in IFR, of course!) True, it wasn't caused by a "scanner", but it was a problem nonetheless! Therefore, the laws about navaids are MUCH stricter-they HAVE to be, as you might not get a second chance! It's also why there restrictions on where and how you may transmit with a radio. What if you were allowed to buy a radio at WalMart and transmit on 6628 KHZ? That is the Internation HF Aviation band. Would YOU like to be on an airplane, or be a pilot and, as you were trying to find out if that snowstorm had let up at LaGuardia, 'HOW "Boucha thar, this h'yar's the ONNNNNNNNNNNE MoonDoggy, ya got a copy on Central N'awth C'lina, we tryin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
