did some googling on cleaning pots . "Caig Deoxit" is universally recomended . radio shack tv tuner cleaner is a mixed bag and WD-40 is either the best stuff ever or a devils trick depending on which link youre reading . dont really wanna pay $10 a can or more and i already have some WD-40 . i want to clean the pots on the front of my washington and in the bottom of the D104 .

i knew you folks would know the truth and tell it . what you yall use/recomend ?

Never liked using a cleaner/lube, never tried WD40, and if for no other reason I wouldn't because of the lube... any time you have a surface that isn't dry it will collect crap, the crap turns to abrasive, and wears out the component. if your a cheap bastard you can probably improve it with some alcohol (short term until you get proper cleaner).

Best bet, forget wd40, or any other lube type cleaner, open your wallet/save your pennies, Buy the Deoxit....

most any tuner cleaner without a lubricant will do, but Deoxit does work well.....

Just my opinion...

I use alcohol injected with a syringe. I work it some then try and flush it with more alcohol. Then a little wd40.
Does the trick for me.

wd40 should be left to rusty gate hinges/locks or cleaning residue left by stickytape,
it washes the positive coefficient friction grease from the spindles and leaves the pot as slack as a turd in a pisspot, also leaves greasy residue that collects dust,

imho deoxit in its different forms is the best i have used and worth every penny,
on connectors i use 100% deoxit then wash it off with iso alchohol and treat with deoxit gold preservative, that stuff even makes expensive hifi interconnects sound better,
deoxit do fader lube but i aint tried it yet to see how effective it is.

Hope its easier to fathom than the astroplane,pmsl.

WD40 is definately better left for squeaky doors.My money would go on deoxit faderlube or servisol 10.

Jeez Bob it's lunch time. As for me I use CRC QD Contact Cleaner for my pots whether music instrument or radio it works fine.
