Default Galaxy DX-959 idle current

I was thinking about getting a DX-959. A friend has a DX-959 and the transmit current in ssb, dead key, no modulation, is almost 3 amps. Is that normal? Right? Thanks

This is from the alignment procedure instructions for the non-Mosfet model. You didn't say which version your friend has. For the Mosfet model, you go to Galaxy DX Radios and email them for the alignment procedure on the new 959.

BIAS Current:
Set radio to CH 20
USB TX mode.
MOD off.

Connect current meter to TP7(+) and TP9(-) : Adjust VR12
for 50 mA
Connect current meter to TP7(+) and TP8(-): Adjust VR10 for 100mA
