Default Ebay power supply

I was just wondering if anyone has bought any of the pyramid brand power supply's. Is that a good brand or should I keep looking.

They're fine. They're not as "rugged" as some of the others like Astron, but I have a 14amp one if been using for probably 9 years with zero problems.

You should also look in the Forum Store if you want a new one (shameless plug ). I have those at very competitive prices for forum members...even better than what I can do for other products.

heres a link to a couple of reviews of the pyramids . pyramid and pyle are the same thing inside , just cosmetic differences on the outside . pyramids numbers in their name refers to the PS peak amperage , pyles number refers to its contious amperage .

Well, I don't have any schematics handy, but a quick search showed that they use LM723, 2N3055 or 2N3177 NPN pass transistors. I'm not sure shich one mine uses as I've never had a reason to open it up to see.

LM723 is a transistor?

I thought it was a regulator IC,

Don't know if this helps or not, but I run my entire shack off of one Samlex SEC-1223, that's an IC-2200H, the Uniden VHF Marine, and the TS-130S all at the same time. Since I only transmit on one radio at a time I've never had reason to believe that I'm over burdening this power supply.

I know several ham's that insist on using super high amprage power supplies, and unless you're running a 200 watt transceiver, or a solid state amp that requires 12 vdc, it just seems like over kill.....
