I have a 2000 GTL it does 10w am not sure about ssb & has ext channels any other mods that can be to this radio I want maxium ammount of power without over kill I love this radio.

If you had a 2000 gtl and you removed the main board which radios board would you replace it with I would maybe go with a striker board peaked & tuned

why in god's name would anybody butcher a cobra 2000 that way????? i don't care for the 'THE_MOD' mod, but i suppose it is actually a useful modification. otherwise, search out info from the deceased 'uniden grant xl owners group' and do the XL mods to the 2000-rcv, xmit, any or all. some of justin depolis's mods-which were on the old forum, not sure where or if you can find them here now-also are excellent. mb8719 radios based on the uniden chassis are just about the absolute best cb chassis's ever designed. why somebody would want to butcher it up with a galaxy crap board is beyond me. as 555 suggests, give it to somebody who values it, or trade it for a garbage stryker-galaxy-wannabe radio. just don't hack it THAT way.

10 watt DK I would think was pushing it on that radio , back down to 6 and leave modulation at 100% . I agree with Dave on this one. The audio sections and receive on those are nice. No need to mod it as you say. A good D-104 or my personal best on those is a shure 526-T desk mic. If it means that much to you ? and you would like to put a few bucks into it ? a good reputable tech could alighn and get things where they should be on it for you. Nothing wrong with having the clarifier open on RX and TX or slightly detuned to run an amp if need be.

i mean for the love of 2000s:wub::wub:
if you want more power coming out of it you can send it to me i can get you a extra speaker mount a transformer inside the speaker and mount some finals and get you like a 25 watt deadkey swing to 200 if you looking for something like that

but to pull the board and put a galaxy board or for even mudduck sakes a stryker board inside a 2000 all you would have is a galxy 2517 inside the case of a 2000 then comes more knobs and switches

tell you what why not just buy a stryker radio and set the 2000 on fire

555 you can do the 25 dk & swing to 200 how much would that cost would it be done right so the radio is not dead in 2 years from heavy use. If you can do that I will give you a glaxy hd 250 amp

dj your best bet is to have the radio adjusted corectly . dead key turned down to 1 or 2 watts and swing to max , and just put it behind a good mobile or base amp behind it :)

then why not have a varaible power knob installed turned all the way down it will deadkey 1/2 watt
into your galaxy 250 then it will keyaround 15 to 25 watts and swing close to 150 to 180 watts
