How many channels are you legally allowed to have on a CB?

So obviously the one I saw was illegal. It had two little 3-way toggle switches added on top of the radio and a homemade manual of different set-up combinations to get the extra channels.

Yep, you can do that with lots of different radios. Doesn't make it legal though

Huh?????? You must new REAL new. Running extra channels and illegal power to the FCC is like going 1 mph over the speed limit. Causing all kinds of problems for others with cussing, intentional bleedover, and freebanding into the ARS territory will increase your chances of getting in trouble quite a bit. We have a lard ass, crap for brains immigrant dump truck driver over here that belches into the mike from the time he starts to the time he gets off work........if he can do that for 3 straight years then you are safe.

are the "extra channels" added to cb radios compatable with export channels ? or something different ? do they also add channels to LSB & USB or just AM ?
i guess it probally depends on the radio and the mod done to get the channels .

channel for channel they may, or may not match up, but 27.555 is 27.555, no matter if its channel 1 on radio "A", or Channel 25 on Radio "B"... Typically when you expand the frequency range (channels) it is all modes the radio is capable of operating on, AM/FM/SSB/CW.
