Hey if any of you Amateur Operators with a General class or higher get bored in the late afternoon at 5:00pm Central time get on 3.913.00 we have a pretty good batch of guys out there we have a good time. if you want my callsign PM me ;)

Hell no we just laugh alot but there can be and usually is an @$$hole in every bunch though. but we have a good time reguardless if you wanna here some crazy bickering and then some listen to the possum net on 3.843.00  AE4FB is the leader of the pack and funny as all get out they argue like crazy I listen in often and laugh but there out there late at night.

The group I heard was late at night up around 3.9 . That night it was BAD . Other stations from adjacent freq's came in to find out what all the disturbance was as they were all getting bleedover on their QSO's .

80 meters is often called the "CB Radio" of the amateur bands, and to an extent that can be true at times. I've been up and down the band many times listening to the various groups, and I have to admit that Possum net is usually entertaining, but they can get out of control at times too. It's no different where I usually hang at 3.814, there seems to be a couple different groups that frequent that frequency, the one that is the most fun, but can also get out of control is the group that calls themselves the My-croni's. It's a parody of the Marconi net because there's been an on going conflict between a few members of the Marconi net and this group who are mostly from North Jersey and New York City, a couple of us from South Jersey, and a couple from Eastern PA. Again, for the most part it's all innocent fun, but I have to admit I've turned my radio off, or made excuses to leave on more than one occasion because these guys can get carried away at times with their language and subject matter....

There's two sides to the issue, some ham's tend to take traditional on air protocols a little too far in their efforts to "police" the bands, these are usually the same guys on QRZ that blame everything wrong with amateur radio on the no-code license and all those who got in (or upgraded) after the code requirement was dropped.
I look at it this way, there's a ton of mindless crap coming through our TV screens every day, if I don't want to watch it, I turn the dial. The same applies to amateur radio, if the discussion is not to your personal tastes....turn the dial.....there's plenty of spectrum out there for everybody.....

I've enjoyed listening to 3913 throughout the years. Many of the operators seem to be good guys. I hesitate to participate, though, due to the foul language that's often used -- and I don't mean foul language from the QRM'ers, either. A number of the "regulars" are often foul mouthed. Too bad...

I wish they would clean up their act.

I made a quick check on 80m early in the evening and it was still very noisey here on the east coast, I shut down early and joined my wife in the house to watch the Phillies play the Nationals, then that game got hit with a nasty thunder storm and down pour in the 6th inning, so I hit the sheets early......

80m usually has a high noise level here until late at night, a lot of plasma screen TV's in the neighborhood I guess, last night I was getting a solid 6 on the "S" meter, on a good night it's only about a 3......

I enjoy it, it has made for a good time for quite a while. and hello to rich fine german beer from the frozen tundra of the north

I usually have a pretty high level of noise here on that band aswell 6-9 S units is common for me without running any filters.
