"Our Mauldulator technology enables high fidelity systems that result in the best sound money can buy. Finally, high fidelity is available to the masses. It's only a matter of time before you must step up to high fidelity. Our technology produces asymmetrical modulation, tube emulation, high fidelity audio transmission. When combined with a transceiver, power supply, microphone and a suitable form of audio processing, the Mauldulator provides a clarity and punch that is beyond comparison. In addition to the above, all Mauldulator kits are shipped with Remotomaul Basic. This is software and built in hardware to allow remote PTT and high fidelity RX and TX over the Internet. Imagine there being no skip in your home town, and being able to log on to a radio in another state and talk."

more "info" . Motormouth Maul RF Technologies - Making Hi Fidelity Amplitude Modulation available to CB operators worldwide.

also what is "asymmetrical modulation" and is it something really benefical ?

seems like a lot to invest considering %90+ of the folks hearing it will be listening on a crappy lil speaker .

all that fun in the 70s and 80s has taken its toll on my few brain cells . :(
i guess next ill be catfish noodling in allagator filled waters !!

in my defense (LOL) i didnt say i believed it , just wanted to confirm my doubts and see y'alls comments about it .
the only thing i could find on "asymmetrical modulation" using google was related to computer networking .

I have to say that is some of the best 'CB' advertising I've seen in a while.

(Take that any way you think you should. I'm not exactly 'proud' of how I said it, but the sentiment is exactly what I said.)

asymmetrical modulation is what an "NPC" mod produces.

picture the line on an oscilloscope and a wave traveling across the screen.
the wave goes up a certain distance above that line, and then comes back down below the line the same distance.

this wave would be known as symmetrical.

if you were to Compress the Negative Peaks (below the line) but leave the positive peaks (above the line) the way they were, the wave would now be known as asymmetrical.

the merits of this form of processing have been debated for a long time.

it might be kind of cool if someone were to do a youtube video showing the sound of a stock radio like a 148GTL, and then did the NPC mod to it and showed the difference in the sound.

this product may be all hype, but motormouthmaul does know what he is doing when it comes to audio.
check his site out and see the processors he makes himself.
i have done the receive audio mods he suggests for the 148GTL and i loved the difference!

just my 2 S-units,

i have much respect for your post here LC but i just dont see it .
$450 for his kit and he says a W2IHY EQplus is also needed , another $360 .
seems for $800 a ham radio converted to 11 meters would be a much better and cost effective option , not to mention much more frequency and mode options .

ive got far better and more important things to spend $800 bucks on , im just trying to get some understand of how this is supposed to be benefical .
i will say if there is some benefit it seemes it would be wasted on 11 meters (the builders target market) considering the speakers most listen with there .

i would never buy one either booty.

all you need to do an NPC-RC mod is a resistor and a diode. LOL

on my madison base, i added an external audio input which is basically a 1/4" jack on the front of the radio that is connected to the input pin of the audio IC.

it allows me to plug any sort of audio device into my cb and use it on the air.

for example, i can plug my electric guitar into it and play over the air. LOL

mostly what i do is plug in a mixer into the input, and use a vocal mic with some reverb from a cheapo effects processor.

all that stuff cost me less than 100 bucks and it sounds very cool!

i can also plug my CD player into it and play music over the air, and it actually sounds good! not like when a guy holds his mic up to a speaker to play music. LOL

i have lots of fun with this setup and for CB i dont see the need for anything more complicated.

Everytime I've heard MMM in dx he's always had his lips clipped and it only gets worse with his bass reverbatronoplastisizer software. imho he sounds like shit. Bob85 will try and dispute my opinion.

Don't be swayed.

Booty why not ask these questions at the place it originated from and get the answers directly from the people involved.

thats a very fair question Camo . ive only see this on CB forums . i do enjoy CB forums but ive learned that sometimes folks are caught up in the advertising or personal connection to a product or person producing it , and just accept something as true . and some just have bad ideas . ive also found when something doesnt make sense to me or i develop a intrest in something that i can come here and get answers that i feel during the course of the post that common sense and truth will rise to the top . and ive learned that NOT ALL folks selling and/or building equipment focused on CB'ers can be trustet for truthful or technically correct answers . i certianly dont understand all the answers i get here all the time . but they give me a basis in facts that as time goes buy i SOMETIMES gradually understand more and i use google and such to search topics and sometimes individual technical words or terms . yea...........im a nerd . but i find it greatly entertaining and add to my joy of this hobby .
think of it as having a diagnoses from a doc-in-a-box and then getting a second opinion from a specialist .
ive said it befor and ill say it again..........this is my go to place when i really want to know whats going on .

Booty you hit on the way to get "broadcast" audio. Get a Yaesu (just an example) or similar radio where the mic plugs into the rear and it keys when you start speaking. That way you can run your mic through all kinds of rack gear, delays, eq's etc. and have as a result a full range audio. Have you heard any of fortymobiles videogates ? I wouldn't buy into this maul whatever snake oil.

"Don't be swayed".

he's 59 when the band is open here and is trounced regularly. the audio IMHO is noticably muddy, missing too much midrange and no hi-end at all. what i would term low-end syllabic distortion is readily discernable. i'm with you.

not impressed.

all 40's videogates are totally processed after the radio, not impressed there either.
