Hi, i saw on the sirio antenna website that sirio i guess upgraded there vector 4000, does anybody run there new upgraded version? also who may have them for sale??

I think H&Y Electronics has them for $150 - shipped.
A local around here just put one these Vector 4000's up with the help of a forum member "40-40".
AS 40-40 put it on-air: "'Dago761 on the Dock of the Bay' has gone from no one to someone on the radio overnight with the Vector 4000."
He also bought 40-40's Yaesu "Yakimo" FT-101E radio.
Sounded incredible together...
I think that 25+ miles away on 38/LSB with an S-6 on my meter says something positive about it.
Yes; I think it is a decent antenna.
Dago761 told me that he and 40-40 used some urethane foam on the inside of the lower vertical portion to stiiffen it up a tad.

That means nothing.I ordered mine from H & Y as a 7/8 and it came a 3/4
The 7/8 wave was too long to produce maximum gain. Sirio has appropriately done the same thing I do on the FM version and shortened the main radiator slightly to max gain out. Anyone assembling one of these Vector 4000 antennas should seriously consider slicing the top end of each piece of tubing so that you can use a hose clamp and one screw on each joint. The two screw method will always break after time in the wind.
Thats exactly what i did,split the top of each section and clamp with AWAB hi strength 316 stainless clamps.I replaced all screws with stainless ones also.
Yeah the 3/4 is shorter but the basket radials are around 16 inches longer than the 7/8
As a side note, I talked to Dago971 on the band last night after he read this thread.
He said that he talked to Sirio -in Italy- before he bought his antenna. Turns out that the H&Y Electronics isn't selling the genuine Sirio product, but a imitation of the Sirio. H&Y is selling a COPY of the Sirio Vector 4000, they have given it the part designation of "LW-150".
