Holy Crap, I just heard COL Doug Wheelock KF5BOC on the ISS pass. I couldnt get a contact as I didnt have the right frequencies but he was making quite a few contacts with others.

Time to set the radio up for ISS Op's, I guess they are getting bored up there.

Of course they man the radio when i'm working and i didn't hear crap when i was on vacation last week and i was working the birds almost all week.

I heard him again yesterday, he made two call's and I tried to make contact but for some reason he wasnt hearing me, Not sure what frequencies they are using for the uplink. They might be using alternates if they are trying to make special requested contacts from organizations.

Same here. I patiently listened to him talking to some kids at a school (couldn't hear their uplink) and then he called CQ New England. He eventually got one or two, though I missed his repeat-back of the calls. I couldn't get in, but the downlink was like listening to him in my living room.

W1MED, I'm curious whether they set up the radio uplink differently when they are doing a school contact so only the school gets in. Either way, I would expect him to go back to the "published" freqs when he started calling CQ. However, I have certainly set up my transmit freq different from what I intended in the past... (and maybe even today :) ) Even COLs make mistakes.

Good luck to you. I'm gonna keep trying from FM16ww.

Man ISS is hard to hit i just herd KF5BOC calling CQ on the 15:36P and 17:13P passes here and nobody answering him i tried on both passes on 144.490 UP and even the region 1 145.200 UP but no response what the hell is going on ? I will try again tomorrow

Well i just made a confirmed voice contact on the 21:38utc pass while portable with the arrow here in california. I was the first one in as they came over the horizon had time for a quick conversation. Not sure who it was that i spoke to as the only call he gave out was NA1SS I will have to listen to my recording to see if he gave it out later in the pass.

That guy has spent a lot of time on the radio lately, I heard him on the last couple passes and couldn't make contact. I was transmitting on the 144.49, maybe the Colonel is running simplex on the 145.800?
No that is what i thought to but i hit it with 144.49

I did not have high expectations of him hearing me but when i herd him comeback i just thought Holyshit he herd me this time!

I made contact with the good Cmdr this evening on my way home with my mobile. I have NA1SS in my scanning bank and I just happened to hear him replying to other stations so I gave it a go. Contact!

Nice Job!!! I still haven't made that contact, although I haven't really tried, either. I think I'll do like you and program it in the mobile.
