Does anyone know what this mod is for the Cobra 29 series. I am talking about the recieve mod where one gets better lows and some highs on the receive end not the transmit end. I know motor mouth has the 148 mods on his website but I can't find anything for the 29s.

WHY ?

In radio you want to shape the audio to mid range.

Probably because someone somewhere said that this was a good thing to do. Even then you are limited to the receiver bandwidth through various chains and filters.

it's a exclusive SnakeRadiosInc mod. talk to 522, his tech is snakeradiosinc (y)

iv had the guy do some radios for me it was good service.

Yep, fast4socal is right... err... morse123, sorry.

I have had SnakeRadiosInc.com install the Cobra 148 HI-FI RX Mod via the MotorMouthMaul website.

I had it done on one of my Cobra 148's and it sounded great. Granted you wont notice a huge difference unless you hook the radio up to better than bad speaker system.
(NO, the little, tiny, single speaker on the radio wont suffice. You will NOT notice a difference whatsoever)
Connect the radio to a decent sounding external speaker, and you will notice the difference.
Also, you will notice it right away once one of those big , quote, unquote "HI-FI" radios out there come into your receive.

Does the radio sound better (once hooked to a proper speaker) ?? Yes
Would I tell everyone I know about it, and to tell them to do it ?? Sure, why not. Because its not something that costs an arm and a leg.

Try it. If you hate it, well, guess what, its easy to remove, and you arent out much $.

Have fun !

Justin, you upgraded a grant LT for me several years ago that I use almost everyday. Great work, thanks. I have a friend of mine who has a 148 that sounds good after this mod and I was told that a mod exists for the 29 series. The 148 seems easier on the ears to listen to. And 522 is right a good external speaker is a must.

This mod does nothing to the TX, just the RX

the Mauldulator has NOTHING to do with what i spoke about above.

go back up and re-read again, i specifically said "I have had SnakeRadiosInc.com install the Cobra 148 HI-FI RX Mod via the MotorMouthMaul website"

NOT the Mauldulator.

As for the other post... I cant comment. Not my radio. Looks like he built the radio per customer's request. Regardless of what the purist say, the customer pays the bills, and he satisfied the customer.

Not my radio, not my problem.
