10 Wide Open

on the way home from work-ja's, kg's, nh's, vk's, zl's, kl's, py's, ce's.....80 watts, mobile, from atlantic coast of the northeast. i was giving 5-9+20's & getting 5-9+10's & better back. REAL signal reports. the 1st ja asked if i was portable/west coast and i ended up having to move from HIS freq because i had the pacific calling calling ME wanting to talk to an east coast mobile.
yeah 10 was open late this afternoon......if it would only stay open a little later past dark.

I need to p/u a 10 M rig. Do you fellas do any DXing on 10 M with a dipole?

That's all I use here at my station.

I have a 10-15-20 meter dipole at around 35'. It works for me. I do have an IMAX 2000, but rarely use it. Actually thinking of taking it out of service.

I have a dipole and a ANT99. All my 10 meter contacts were louder on the ANT99 (vertical) today

Talked to Shanghai and Foshan China and Japan with the Imax and 80 watts.
Thought I was on the beam until I looked at the antenna switch, as I often flip it to see which way is working better.
Yeah, 10m has been great.

I just hung a G5RV JR (51' length 10-40M) in an inverted V configuration, about 30' off the ground and have had a ball on 10M the last couple of weeks. Haven't had any real luck with Europe (I'm in Calif), but have talked to the Bahamas, most of the So. East US, Japan and all the way to the southern tip of So. America (7000 miles) with 5/7 - 5/9 reports. Big fun for only 100 watts and a $39 antenna!

dipole? well from my BASE, sorta, a maco v5/8 tuned for 26.835. i have about 1.6:1 on 10m & 2.3:1 on 12m, the ic746pro's auto tuner works just fine. with the losses, my 100 watts out of the radio is probably a bit LESS erp. BUT, above, i was talking about my MOBILE which has a predator 10k on it, ALSO tuned for 26.835. i am NOT using a tuner in the mobile on 10 & 12m, so where do you suppose my 80 watts out of the radio REALLY is, MAYBE 40 watts ERP??? on a good day?
so, dipole? i don't need no stinkin' dipole. the proverbial wet noodle works just fine on 10m. (and 6m during e skip season.....)
