I just bought a mint President Grant Classic from an old friend. Can any of you give me some history on this model. I have been around and owned President Grants, Uniden Grants and the XL LT variants but not a President Grant classic.

I cant wait to fire this radio up on 27.385!

Here are a couple of pics. It does have the dual clarifier. Made in the phillipines.

Recieve is not as hot as my 2600 but hotter than my 99v.

Nice radio. I noticed the band selector is different. I wonder if its because mine is a grant classic.

Does anyone know if there are differences between the two?

I don't know about history but they first came out in the mid 1980s.

Big difference internally, the multiband Grants have the MC145106 PLL with half adders to give the extras. Superstar kinda took over prduction after the Grants and Cobra 'Exports'. The Cobra DX and the Grant Clssic Export were some of the best! Better finals too!
The common Grants and Cobra 148s (FCC) had the MB9719 PLL

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but the multi band Grants use the MB8719 PLL with two adder chips, not the MC145106 PLL.
It is a completely different board from the standard CB's with the MB8719 however.
