I have been running Flex Radios for a while now and really love it, especially since I just upgraded to the Flex 5000 and added the 2nd receiver.

Using a mouse and keyboard can be a pain at times and I came across this site recently PowerSDR with an improved User Interface (knobs & buttons) | Contesting & SDR . Well needless to say I just ordered the controller from Amazon and should have it the beginning of next week. This looks like a Great way to get those knobs, buttons, and sliders that most Ham's crave.

I'll post another thread on it after I get a chance to use it and give my opinions on it.

Do you think this will attract more folks to the Flex Radios ??

Yup thats the one !! Just came in today and was easy to install. There are so many options with the modified PSDR software I am having trouble trying to figure out how I want to configure it..

I look forward to hearing more....once you get it set up!

Do you know....Would this set up work for the Flex 1500 as well?

Yup it will work on any Flex Radio running PSDR. You just need to download the modified PSDR from the web link in my original post, install the drivers for the controller and plug and play away !

Knobs on a Flex..... Somehow this reminds me of a friend who received a new Schwinn as a birthday present many years ago, he was not happy until his father put training wheels on the thing.....

Well not really the same as your example, its a novelty, and a new toy to play with. There isnt much you can do to make the radio better so adding on gadgets feeds the need. There is also a Mini 7" touch screen and software that can be added to give you touch screen capability. Yet another gadget to play with.

This looks pretty cool !

I understand the "need" part....We all have it!
I just really enjoy using the software to control the radio. That said, there is one area where I get tripped up while using my Flex radios and that is I sometimes forget which window is active on my computer.Just as I begin to add text to what I believe is an active logging program window I actually begin switching bands or frequencies. I understand that this is exactly the reason the FlexControl was developed. That is the one "knob" I have for my Flex and it is enough.
I'd be more interested in the accessories if I felt I would actually use them on a day to day basis.
