Well I stopped by the neighbours again today, And as i was leaving I had noticed a unusual antenna in the air....
Was my eyes decieving me a Miniture Sigma 4? So i asked him he said he had made it for 2 meter, complete with gamma match to scale... ALso stated it works GREAT.... I tell ya I have a LOT to learn from this guy

But isn't a 3/4 wave coaxial J-pole merely a half wave end fed dipole? What's the point otherwise? Sounds like a bunch of CBer hype and magic.

Sir, with all due respect, this thread is a mere half dozen or so posts long, and no more than a photo of a two meter V4k and some of us saying it looked great. Somewhere in all that huge ado I missed the hype you were referring to. And furthermore, the last time I looked (just now), 2 meters is in the Amateur band allocations.

So?

I missed your reference within this thread. . .

Sorry, admins, Homer occasionally gets tired of people saying things irrelevant to the discussion at hand that are clearly provocative.

 Quit while you are ahead Booty. VO1KS is a broadcast engineer for a national radio/television broadcasting organization.Warren has forgotten more about antennas than most people on this forum will ever know.

Given the fact that a Sigma 4 is indeed a CB antenna and the antenna in this thread is a scaled down clone of that antenna it's operation is identical. The comments were about the perception of the method of operation of the antenna regardless of what band it is cut for. CB'ers have hyped the 11m version of this antenna and therefore i cannot see why VO1KS's comments were irrelevant.

he's my new hero !! (y)

chill out booty,
you don't expect folk who think vswr changes along a line because the antenna needs tuning to understand the sigma design do you?.

don't accept anything without an explanation of how it works and links to respected sources otherwise they will fill you with bs.

Pics from my web page aren't relevant to the discussion. You might like the nativity scene at xmas time. :)

The link for the Dominator antenna show an installation at CBC Moncton. It's an embarassment if anything that they have allowed the wool to be pulled over their eyes with the scam BS and babble talk regarding the FM version of the antenna.

I'm quite sure the antenna works well and that users have acceptable results. It's the hype that gets me worked up. It uses a half wave radiator. Assuming it is installed properly it would have equal gain and performance to a dipole or half wave ground plane antenna at the same height.

I could build an antenna with 60dB gain quite easily. It's not difficult to scam test results, and without knowledge of the reference being used any numbers are irrelevant.

I could consider it an interesting looking antenna, but nothing at all like some of the large dipole arrays at RCI in Sackville, NewBrunswick.

there's nothing 1/2 wave on mine anywhere . it has 1/4 wave basket elements and a 1/4 wave loop and the main vertical is a combined 1/4 wave length plus a .64 wavelength (32 ft on 11 meters) . no wool here , just better performance than my 5/8s did here . another location may have different results ......
