I am usually catching them on 27.555usb.

The stations in Norway hear a lot of us from the states around 1:00pm west coast time, not only on 555 but ch 38 too. They call for us over here, but not hardly anyone hears them. So I always have the beam pointing over the pole in the early afternoon to catch them.

I also will catch several from Finland at this time. Yesterday, it was just about 1:00 in the morning for the one station in Norway when we talked, he was putting a S7 on me and he was RX me at S7-8

Yap - I consider short dxing out to the 3000 mile range and beyond that to be long. Which in that short dx range, it's very easy to work even in a mobile.

But some do consider long dxing to be anything outside their own state or province - even if it's only 1000 miles.

I don't know for sure, but maybe there is a proven theory, if there is any difference between the "short & Long" dxing.

Depends a lot on the frequency and whether you're mobile or not. I have about 245 DXCC entities on 10M through 40M mobile and 35 or so more from home.

Was just curious about your definition of "DX". Sounds good to me!

And yes, it's a relative term. Lots of difference between 2 meters and 20 meters!

I have always thought about the same as you Larry as to what I consider long distance. On HF I consider anything within the first bounce as short distance and anything doing multiple hops as long distance. Those are just my opinions and others think differently.

And then we have the Long Path dxing and the Short Path.


But anyway, as long as we only have one earth to get our signal around, I guess it really wouldn't matter which way it goes, as long as it gets there - right?!

If I talk to any location that uses a different accent than my own - then I consider that I've done the DX thing.

Including New Jersey . . . lol . . .

Listened for Norway/Scandinavia as per above - no joy.
