BOO-HOO on the taxes. If I were to pay $660 for the radio I would also have to pay $99 in taxes. Yep, 15% on just about everything and if I order out of province but still within Canada the vendor is required to charge the tax anyway.

Pfffffffttttt........................gas prices and taxes. You guys have it made and don't even realize it.

Congrats on the new purchase BTW.

Gas here is $6.13 for an imperial gallon or about $5.13 for a US gallon. You still have it better.

You will have to fabricate a mount yourself. There aren't many ideas out there other than a persons own ingenuity. I have a similar predicament. I want to mount the face to the front of my dash. In my case I am going to make up a simple offset bracket and bolt it into place. It will look like a step. One hole on top for the face bolt. Then I will step it back about 3/4" (I think, I haven't measured it yet). Then 2 bolts to attach it to the dash. That should work fine for me.

Keep in mind which GPS you get for the radio(Internal GPS FGPS-1 or FGPS-2 with the external GPS adapter CT-136 and extension cable CT-133). If you go with the FGPS-1 then the top of the face must be kept unblocked. That may pose an issue for your intended location. In my install that is what I am doing so that the top half of the face is above the dash. With the FGPS-2, CT-136 and CT-133 you can mount the face where you want (within 3M) but that option is more expensive. I just thought I would point that out before you finalize your mounting options.

ThaNks Darryl.
no problem i will make it work. do plan on the gps unit very soon along with the voice and recording module. which do you think is better the GPZ unit that goes on the face or the other one with the external antenna?

Preference and mounting location. I have the internal (FGPS-1) and am happy with it. I can always get a GPS lock within 60-90 seconds. I have the Voice Guide unit (FVS-2) and the Bluetooth unit (BU-1) installed as well. I find that I don't use the FVS-2 much. It only will record 5 minutes but can be good for reminders. It will speak out frequencies and call signs (at least my own at start up:D) ). I do however use the BT quite a bit. It works very well, at least for me anyway.:)

Can any Bluetooth be paired with the yaesu ? I have a nice set of bluetooth pieces from mono to stereo.

A lot will pair but not everyone will. What kin do you have? You can search bluetooth on the site here as there many posts of what has worked or not. I have both the Yaesu BH-A2 Mono headset and also a Plantronics Voyager Pro. I use the Voyager most. Sorry I can't be more help.
