Yup, They have a long standing webpage dedicated to the entire 101 line beginning to end.

A 101 series CAN be a good radio. All depends on who all has owned it and what kind of shape it is in. You ever have to be aware of their age and stuff can break down at any time. Then you'll be looking for somebody who can repair them and find parts....tough decision.
I would buy one ONLY from a seller who is CERTIFYING that it works 100% as should and will gladly take it back if it doesn't...... pay with a credit card or credit card through paypal. I wouldn't send anybody cash.
For AM operation you MUST have the optional AM Filter or you will be screwed. If you get a good rig but it doesn't have the filter....you can get them....but be prepared to shell out $125 bucks for one.

I would only use it for usb lsb and cw. I cant believe the output is over 200w on ssb....is it hard to mod to do 11m?

They are good radio`s I have had a couple of them, first radio I used on HF when I got my tech+
Take it easy on the 260 watt power rating...that is INPUT POWER, not output LOL
Running hard they will do 120/130 watts, depending on what band you are on.
AM mode, 25 to 35 watts.
They will get you on the air, and if you know how to work on them can be a good rig.
Right off the bat I would get a Service manual and re-cap the radio as a preventive step.

The mod for 12 meters is un plugin a crystal in one of the Ten slots and replacing it with the mixer crystal for 12 meters.

Plate voltage times plate current in short terms for a tube type amplifier as in the FT-101. It general terms it is the voltage applied to the finals times the current consumed by the finals. Are you sure you passed a test?
The FT 101B was my first rig...Had it before I passed my Novice exam..Had
11 meters right on the front panel. If I remember right it would start at
about channel 3 and go up to 27.585 or so..Man, brings back fun memories.
Warm it up a good 20 minutes and it did'nt drift a bit.
At the time, when the Icom 745 came out I bought one and couldn't wait to
get rid of the 101. In hindsight I wish I had the old girl back..
The E-model is about the same but has a speech processor..Someone
correct me if I'm wrong

Get a Kenwood TS-520. You will be happier.

Just so you don't have to ask VS, Sweep Tubes are "bad" if you have neighbors. You'll come in on their TV's, stereos, clock radios, toasters, vibrators and clappers.
That is more the fault of the operator running the shit out of them than it is of the tubes themselves. Sweep tubes have a bad rep due to their prevelence in dirty CB ampss and those amps are dirty due to the way they are being run. Truth be told the venerable 6146 is a derivation of a sweep tube.
I know what a sweep tube is and yes the bleed alright I had a 8 tube linear that bleed so bad u could hear my harmonics on 500mhz
Of course that was my fault for driving the bunghole out of the box.
