2995-DX power supply conversion

Has anyone done a P.S. conversion on the 2995-DX using the Mega Watt S-400-12 ?? If you have could I get some help With this Wiring Conversion?? Thanks.

I too am interested in updateing my 2990DX power supply, with a Meanwell SE-600-15 powersupply, just need to know what are the positive and negative leads on my 2990DX, probably the same as a 2995dx. These guys do the conversion.

Did mine myself... yesterday.
PS is a tad too big to fit square so the frame arm wont line up with holes in the back case cover. ...
The case won't go on unless you remove the sheild box around the PA board and move the PS over too clear the frame arm.

A local shop does this mod. I have a couple of these 15 VDC 40 amp MeanWell's just waiting to be dropped in but the dang factory power supplies won't fail yet Bare in mind that the fans in the MeanWell's are loud and may warrant a Hi/Lo fan speed switch if you DIY.

Just picked up a 2995 yesterday, any chance you could share your install procedure/pics?

Some are using a smaller 30 amp Meanwell supply. That looks to require less cutting or removal of internal radio parts than the 40 amp'r to fit. The 40 amp @ 15 VDC is the Hot Setup. Again, remember there will be some added cooling fan noise from the new switching power supply.

Pretty straight forward power supply replacement... Find out what 120VAC power wires go to the old power supply and mark them. Find out what 12VDC wires come out of the original power supply PC board and go to the main radio board and mark them. There is a chance that there may be some other 12VDC power wires that go to the lights, amp etc. (Take a photo of all wiring before you disconnect or cut anything) cut and remove old power supply components such as the transformer, filter caps, power transistors and rectifier board. This makes room for the new power supply. Shoe-horn in new power supply and connect primary the 120VAC wires and secondary 12VDC wires. You could fuse those secondary 12VDC wires if you like for some added protection.

That's crazy. This radio does not warrant a 40amp power supply.
Mega Watt sells a drop in supply. I think it's the same dimensions as the factory Mean Well supply.

LOL Mega watt has two power supplies, a 33 amp version for $50 and a 36 amp version for $65 - the 4 extra amps I'm installing ain't gonna hurt...

i just happen to have 2 of the 40 amp ones laying around. so i dropped one in. i still have another one. and i got the 50 amp one im not using. fan is to dam loud. for my liking.
