Cool ** Yaesu VX-8R - Audio Problem Solved **

Hi to all again,

Please see my solution thread including new video

****************** Original Problem with Audio ******************

Hi,

My Yeasu VX-8R has developed an issues with it's speaker where the sound output is muffled or as some would describe crunchy. It seems to have to do with the speaker contacts with the main board as when you press on the speaker (squeeze the radio) the audio returns to normal! Other that this the radio functions perfectly ?!?

Should I RMA this radio or is this normal?

That's not normal. Call up Yaesu and they'll have you send it and fix it. Turn around for me on my issue was really fast.

I agree, that is not normal. I've been playing with three separate VX-8R's and none do that. Awesome work on the video too Akytarus.

I agree!!! Send it in! Stephanie who answers their repair customer service line was right on top of letting me know when they got it and when to expect it back... Got it back in about a week... and I am in DC...

Default Hummm What to do...

Ok,

So it's a given that I'll send it back. But do I send it to Yaesu in California or back to my place of perches.

Sending it to California will be fairly costly from Canada and also will get stuck in customs for a week or so before it even gets anywhere. In so turn around time will be estimated at least 3 weeks or more if I go that route.

On the other hand I could send it back to my local store. I'm trying to get in contact with them to see if they will take care of the RMA procedure as this won't cost me as much and the turn around will be just as long if not quicker if they decided to just make a direct swap out for the unit ...!

I'll wait a few more days for my local shop to get back to me before I do anything.

Yeah, it's worth it to see if the local shop will exchange it, especially if you have to deal with Customs. It will be interesting to find out how this goes...
