counterfeit is a poor term to describe electronic goods, the word unauthorized would be better fitting considering such goods are often made by the same people on the same tooling as the legitimate product. A factory in hong kong normally runs 2 shifts making electronic goods, but they also often have a 3rd shift that works in secrecy. Some of the components may be substituted, some things may lack, some things may be extra but overall there aint much difference between an unauthorized product and a real one.
the corporations also like to call goods intended for a different region counterfeit but the difference is total horseshit.
you might could consider the chinese electronics sold under no name or name nobody ever heard of, that have little or no resemblance to products sold in the west, counterfeit goods. The dont bother to pay patent royalties, or give a hoot about a software patent or copyright. |
