I think im just going to take it down and tune it. It's resonant lower in the bands on both 20 and 40 so i think i'll trim it up and just not use the tuner.
It's a bit confusing determining what mode is in, that's one of my complaints about it.... I've read the manual front to back several times, nothing in it addresses my issue... Any idea how to adjust the swr thresh hold? The manual doesn't mention it.
It has done this with 2 different...
I run an IC-7200 coupled with a LDG IT-100 tuner. Lately I have been having a problem... When I tune up on a frequency, the tuner has no problem loading up. However, when I begin to transmit or enter a QSO, the tuning light will flash red 3 times and it loses tune, swr goes back up and output is...
I really do like my galaxy... i was considering selling it but just couldn't. It is what got me hooked, and i always get good reports after it warms up. The ssb receive is brilliant, always so sensitive yet low noise, and i prefer it over my icom on 11m. I just flat out love the way it sounds, i...
Well i have both, so it will be interesting to compare them soon once i upgrade license classes To general. Maybe i'll resurrect this thread and post the results.
i know with my 10m antenna when i tune to 40m, its always full of activity and i can hear a lot of good signals.
Too bad the 2950s only do 25w ssb, you get 50 out of the optima and they are right around the same price. Not to mention the optima has better filtering and the 2950 is known for frequency drift issues.
A contact is a contact at the end of the day. Doesnt matter if you are doing it on a imax pushing the brink of your antenna tuner, or on a 40m resonant beam 100ft in the air. Great job on the 40m contact using an Imax.
I know my sirio 2016 5/8 wave vertical has amazing ears on 40m, can't wait...
Never used the unidens, but i own the MK3... I'll never sell it, love that little radio. Get one, you will not be disappointed. Rock solid on frequency all the time and it kicks bag on both 10 and 11m ssb. The receive is outstanding, od put the receiver against any export radio out there.
A simple dipole can be built and tuned for any radio band. I ran horizontal dipole for cb and had terrific results working DX worldwide, but could not talk locally. I now run a sirio 2016 vertical and it outperforms the dipole on DX, and allows me to talk locally as well. I would recommend...
My station comes through my surround sound, two different home surround sound systems. So I imagine it probably would for all the neighbors as Well. No complaints yet. I set up my phone to record in the living room while i keyed up and talked on aor in the radio room. When the audio of the tv...
As a ham, i always find myself going back to 11m, because it is downright fun, and there are a lot of great folks out there on the radio.
I feel some amateurs want to over complicate things by the way we speak on the air. it's pretty funny.
When it comes down to it, i just love radio, does't...
