Master Chief is an unknown quantity at this point

I had Justin rework an Eagle 5000 base radio (RCI-2990) with the HM-PRO. He and I were not impressed with the mic on AM. It was BEAUTIFUL on SSB however!

The problem was that the HM-PRO has too much frequency response for the radio (the mic is "wider" than the radio). Even with the audio section mods, we couldn't get the radio to go wide enough.

The HM-5 may have worked better, but was unavailable.

EDUK8TR is on a distinguished road

I have a D-104 that I put an HC-5 element in and it works great on both AM and SSB. I don't work much AM but always get excellent reports when working SSB.
