Not being able yet to buy one anywhere, I've acquired the better chips to make a Tweety Bird. Off to RS to start picking up the resistors and capacitors. Have the schematic. Y'all wish me luck.

Curious which schematic are you using, i have a few...

i got a gooney bird i,m not using .12volt.they go in a radio,not a mic although it could work in a mic .
has a potentiometer to vary the sound .40.00 shipped .thats nearly what i paid .they sell on ebay for 40.00
a guy in NJ is making them

the old school style is hard to come by ,they go in mics and whistle when you key .the gooney does not .its totally button activated.
i have the old school birds in near all my 8 d104`s.
sold a couple not long ago to radioman24.none left to sell unless you bribe me with big bucks...lol....

The tweety bird circuit that most people used back in the 80s was a copy of the "WARBLE ALARM CIRCUIT" that was in the Semiconductor replacement guides sold by Radio Shack from 1977 thru ??? Look at the 555 timer page. the circuit is shown there. uses two 555s or one 556. It is basically an astable oscillator driving a vco, Pretty simple to construct... sounds great on-the-air.

I have the schematic for the 555 timer and another one that uses the CA 3045 timer. The description that came with stated that the CA 3045 version sounded better and has a better "trailing off" sound as the noise is ending. That's the one I'm trying first. I posted the schematics on the forum here:

I have heard both versions on-the-air over the years, and the CA 3045 definitely sounds better. The link with the schematics says that this circuit will produce a "decaying whistle" whenever the mike is keyed. What triggers this?? It is just assumed that the battery is disconnected when the mike is unkeyed, and connects when the mile is keyed up, producing the sound?

it is a cap and diode combo on the activation button that makes the keyup noise .by changing out the cap to a lager cap you can make the keyup longer or shorter depending on the value of the cap.

i use to have a guy who made me birdies and sirens but he must have stopped as he doesnt return my emails anymore .he made slow birdies,fast birdies,wind up sirens,i miss that guy...lol.....i still got probably 7-8 birdies and 2 sirens in use over here in my d104 collection.

i recently sold a rare 2 tone birdie to a forum member along with a mic i put it into for him .
but he made me a offer i couldnt resist

LOLZ...i love birdies & sirens...was gonna grab one of those off on the old ezboard forums, just got lamed out of CB radio and did not follow thru...
