Seems my new 2m/70cm UV-5R will transmit on the MURS and FRS frequencies!
Anyone confirm this??

I was able to program channel fourteen (467.7125) FRS and 154.600 MURs into memory on my UV5R!

For the price, this rig fills lots of niches! After learning how to program this rig it "blossomed" into something!

i even have a repeater setup for me
im getting a true 12 to 15 mile range
from the repeater
if i use the beofeng i put a external antenna magmount set at 465mhz
had it up and running doing great and then some people found the repeater and was using their bubble packs
so i PL it and that stopped it
should have a permit within the next week or so

i run an old spectra in the mobile and this really helps on my end
at the current height
i just have the 10 foot pole on the roof sitting in a tripod
should be putting it up on top of 70 foot tower when it warms up a bit
that should extend my range to about 20 to 30 miles

Default YES

Hello and YES I have one too I have it programed with both MURS & FRS/GMRS bands but the stock antenna is not real good. I put
a Diamond ht antenna on my ht also if you want max range on
UHF put a pig tail on your radio. All you need is a tem.lug that
fits antenna and 6" of wire that acts as ground side of your
antenna. I use this only on UHF. If you look around you
can get many ht antenna adapters like SMA to BNC or
SO 239. I have SMA to SO239 and a mag mount on
the roof of car!

It's also 100% illegal to use GMRS or FRS on Amateur radios.
I doubt the radios you got are even FCC certified, another broken rule.
Chances are the FCC won't catch you, but I'd love to see the look on your face if they did and you got slapped with a $7,000 fine.

You might want to change the part about respecting the rules in the USA at the bottom of your posts as everything you posted is against US FCC rules...Just sayin.
