Murs base antenna?

Anyone know of a good antenna for murs? I see fire stik is making a Murs base antenna. Seems to be good but I wanted some opinions. Thanks!

Cheech,I used a J-pole made from 1/2" copper for mine and it worked great for me.Then I went to a Ringo Ranger 2-Mtr and
it works better yet.The J-pole was cheaper of course!
You can use several ant calculators for J-poles.Just do a
Google search and they will come up. I did make mine adjustable. Good luck sir.Slim

What kind of antenna do you want?

I have 2 4-element quads designed for MURS by Cubex. It is the same antenna as the Yellow Jacket, but re-modled for MURS. It's very light and an awesome antenna. He has more in stock and at approximately $55.00 each, its hard to beat!

If you want a rock-solid vertical, order the Hustler G7-150-1.
(I don't support DJ Electronics per say, its just a good link with specs)

Other than that, I've made a number of copper J-poles and they work pretty good. If you do decide to go with a J-pole, design it for 153.210 MHz.

i'm using a broadband marine ant. that was on the curb. it has a 10 mhz bandwith and swr's 1.2 on murs . can't complain for the price.

I guess i'm a bit late onthis conversation, The best thing I've found is an old super station master, a 10db gain vertical. there all over if you look. I payed for one and collected up 4 more shortly there after. At 24 ft by 3" in diameter not too many people want to put these things up. with ten watts i was talking over 60 miles with no problem, with 200 watts over125 with no problem. these are buy far the best murs antenna. they are a high gain colinear antenna so there band width is a bit tight. you can tune them for best center freq, for perforamance and durability these repeater antennas are smoken! hey there..

i think more people should use MURS..
it is often over looked and yet being so close to 2 meters with nearly identical operating as 2 meters..

Myself i use a Comet GP-9
this is a high gain colinear antenna of 10 dbi for 2 meters

although this is a dual band antenna for 2 meters and 70cm band (is slightly higher db gain for 70 cm band..about 13.6 dbi)
i can tell you it works great on murs..

with 50 watts i have spoken 130 miles
but then the antenna is on 20 ft of mast while on top of my 3 story building (with guy wires..lol) so it is 52 or 54 ft high at its base..and the antenna itself is 18 ft tall..

if i ever replace this antenna it will be it will be with another dual banded antenna of a high gain colinear antenna being 24 ft tall with a gain by Dimond like this http://www.rfparts.com/diamond/x700hna.html

you might simply want a mono band antenna that is specificly tunable for the frequency you want...so try this maybe

cheech, I dont have any photos but you can search for cellwave antennas look up 150 meg superstation master. this thing worked so well I had to mount it 10ft off the ground because at 50 ft I was disturding out lying emergency services that were still on vhf, the next best was the hustler vertical, the lower gain ametuer dual band antennas like the x50 had an exceptable swr in the murs operating range but as you go up to the higher gain dual band antennas the band width tightens up and the swr is no longer acceptable, If your looking for off the shelf tunable for the 150's region the hustler is high gain and very durable. It takes a little work to get each of the 3 5\8 sections tuned for the lowest swr. If you dont take the time to tune it down to the lowest swr you will encounter alot of phase distortion.. if you can't find a station master a hustler is a good second choice... good luck Steve44
