Boy murs is a dead chnl here, a little used radio frequency, havent heard anyone for 2 weeks now..

My wife and I use murs channel 1 and there is KNOWONE else on the freq. That really suprizes me because we are in a very populated area.

That's the beauty of MURS--it is an obscure, mostly unused band with no manufacturers making cheap bubble-pack radios for it.

That means that most people who do use it are using non-type-accepted equipment---there just isn't any type accepted equipment available!

There are some listed on Ebay. There is a RS MURS radio as well as some others that "claim" to be MURS. I am surprised that as cheap as they make the FRS/GMRS radios they don't also do so with the MURS radios.

The base unit is the old radio shack business band radio 5 watt program the channels in it, they are around for a price , I am using a modified two meter radio now..see you on it on skip<ha>
