You have to send into Flex-Radio with a valid MARS license. They send you a firmware update (I think that's what it is). I talked to a fellow MARS licensee who had to go through this procedure. To my knowledge, noone has "hacked" it.
thanks, that was what i was starting to see from poking around in the software. shame i really dont like having limitations on my gear. you never know when you might need to transmit out of band especially during an emergency.
I read that only FLEX models have firmware, the SDR-1000 does not use firmware.
The PowerSDR is open-source, so it should be no problem to find the frequency limits.

27.555 usb coming alive with skip isn't generally classed as an emergency.
come on guys, i am just tring to keep from getting flamed from some do gooder. most radio related forums and a question on how to do 11 meter mods is usally followed be several flamed replys. i am just tip toing through the thorn patch by habit.
