Yes, the FT-857D does RX on the 11 meter band stock. I have one, un-moded.
I DO-NOT recommend converting it for out-of-band transmit.
The 11M band (CB) is 90% AM, and the FT-857D sounds like crap on AM due to the ALC and take quite a bit of work in the service menu to get the radio to...
I have used the amp on 12M and 10M SSB, and had good reports. Only about 4-500 though, I don't need much power with the tower I am running. But I would love to have it working right on 40M, and 20M 500W max. I am running a Cushcraft MA5B and do not want to put more then 500W on it, I run a...
I have a few good phantom's laying around, and they all have been mod'ed for CB. I would like to restore the band pass in the best of the litter. I have a large coil a fried had out of a old phantom, and the one I want to work with still has the rotatory switch on the front. Any ANY Info...
A close friend of mine, KC8COM has built a simple kit you just hook to the back of any CB radio that will let you tune in HF.
Here is a short video I did of my kit on a RCI2950DX

The Multiband Converter from Cycle 24 Kits will allow you to receive...
It may say that, but the simulations say otherwise. I have ran it through a few programs, and there is just a tad vertical. My testing here on it also says otherwise. And the side rejection is more then any other beam I have ever used, and it is very very very tuchy in the direction also. I...
It is Andrew LDF4-50A hardline. All connectors on the LDF4-50 are Andrew L4PNM-RC RingFlare type N's. I also used Type N panel mounts on my remote switch box. The switch box itself is filled with Argon Gas. And type N's on my gear here in the shack.
I'm running about 180 feet of feed line, so I wanted to get the lowest loss cable I could in my price range. I also opted for the Andrew hard line for the added prevention of noise, and TVI problems due to leakage of RF.
I learned long ago, you can put TONS of money into radio's, and amps...
The 6V DX is a horizontal beam. It is in a V shape to narrow the direction. So in theory, they shouldn't bother each other. I also ran a simulation in the antenna program MMANA-GAL. It is free software, you can get it here.

The program did show an increase in the...
This is great feed back. I have also thought about how much vibrations, and jarring sweep tubes can handle. I think I might have to drop the idea of a 4 tube sweep amp. I think if I do go with tubes, they will have to be built a tad bit better hay..
Thank you for your inputs, I...
So I have been building myself a new truck for the last 3 years and its about ready to put on the road. I have (2) alternators. One 13VDC;190A to run the truck electrical, and my radio equipment. And one 19.2VDC;155A that is powering a 16VDC AGM D1600 2,400A battery, for my amplifiers. I am...
I got 3 trams now.
Well, I got 3 trams off my brother, (2) D201a's, and one d201. None of them are powering up, but im working on one now. They all seam to be very nice radio's, and I will try to keep you all posted on my working with them.
cool beans guys. I have been beating around on the idea of getting them and going through em all the way. If nothing els, They might look nice on my shelf. What is the typical power out put on these, and frequ range?
