When checking the SWR of my antenna and there is an linear amp in the setup, should the meter be run off of the coax directly to the antenna or the one going from the amp to the radio with the antenna still going to the amp? My understanding is the swr is the resistance from the coax and...
Well I just traded my Stryker for a Magnum S-680. When the shop hooked my Stryker up to his meter it read around 65w not 100w. The Magnum read around 95w on the same meter. Just thought I'd update my setup on this thread.
I have a Cobra 29 that's matched to the amp. I finally just unhooked the TS 350 and am looking for a bigger amp, thinking about hooking up the cobra and amp back in my bunk area and running the stryker by itself for the time being. I would like to get that S6 but will probably keep looking...
Found a magnum S6 for 150.00 and was thinking about grabbing it. Either as a backup or replacement for my Stryker 440HP. Anyone know anything about these radios?
I originally had the amp hooked to a Cobra 29. I later bought the Stryker at Skipshooters CB shop in Carlisle, PA. I brought the amp in for him to match it all up and he told me it will all work fine. I was told the same thing by DTB radio in carlisle.
Alright, I'm starting to learn. I've mainly been searching craigslist and pawn shops for amps and a few old timers I know. CB shops seem to charge too much for amps. Haven't had any luck in the pawn shops, did pick up a general lee with the blue lights for 35, seems to work good. He didnt...
Well time to pick your brains again. I found a Worldwide MF-440. It said in the ad its 1x4. Does this mean it also has the driver pill and my radio will be too powerfull?
I found another amp, a Texas Star 667v. The guy who owns it claims it can do around 800w. He said it was re-pilled. Is it possible to get that output on this amp? And Rob, do you have the specs on this amp?
Thanks for the info everyone. I saw it hit close to 100 on the meter where I bought the radio, but I know some shops use rigged meters. The 1600 amp I was gonna get needs new pills so I'm not sure if I wanna mess with it or not.
I don't have a power meter yet. Going to grab one as soon as I find one. According to the shop I bought the radio at it has 100w swing on it with the power turned up. It was used and modified.is the power meter on the radio pretty accurate or do I need an external one?
Actually I don't know too much about it. A cb shop set me up. I've been online trying to soak up as much info as I can there just aren't a lot of places that I've found to get that info. What do you mean detune? I have the variable power knob turned all the way down on the radio and the amp is...
Like the title says I have a SR440-HP and currently have a texas star DX 350HDV hooked up. A friend has a texas star dx 1600 he is gonna sell me. Just wanted to know if anyone has ever ran anything like this and if there are any problems doing it. Bleeding over, interference, over modulation...
