Of course I am right Marconi, you just dont put a cap hat on a antenna and think it won't effect length and you are correct it may not come down to an exact 1:1 replacement but will be close but the whole point of my post is no one took that cap hat into consideration with the new P500 they are...
No one has taken into consideration the Capacitance Hat when figuring overall length of antenna. if they r a 1' each that would add 2' to over all length.
Real simple ever see a Maco or a ringo circular matching section. There isnt going to be a big coil you only need a little inductance. The problem is people look at ham websites and think the pictures relate to CB antennas.
asking people on the cb for any advise is a bad move... Cbers are for the most part idiots who parrot what they hear and read whether the info is right or wrong.
Those clamps dont allow the driven element to be split like he wanted to do. Nothing wrong with the one he made it maybe a little heavy but shouldnt be a problem seeing that this thread is over a year old and he has been running it for a while.
The old ones were swagged i have one laying together in my backyard, only difference I see maybe the radial plate. Seems still to be alot stronger aluminum than the Sirio line.
Good Explaination Jeff,
This is what the antenna was designed for, look at the date this wasn't something that was just made last week. The first design didn't use the glass caps, he made his own with teflon etc... This pic was taken outside of the Daytona 500 at a keydown. This is AC sky...
Why not go directly to eznec site and learn from the people who wrote the program not another person learning like you are. Not a knock on Marconi I dont think he is a expert yet in Eznec but he is getting there.
Commenting on things you don't have a idea what you are talking about.
The Davemade rod of God is a full size 1/2 wave radiator, the coil at the bottom is the matching device
Your math and your theory need work the Rod of God isn't a loaded antenna again I will tell you the coil is a...
Thats not really what they call a puck mount what you have there, but the puck mount like the one posted were originally made by Davemade for high power keydowns applications. His were 50 ohms and was just like having a piece of coax there no impedance bump. Nowadays all the guys who have copied...
I think thats what Sirio has claimed from the beginning gain on the horizon if people expect to see some great signal change from someone say 15-20 miles away don't get your hopes up. The longer antennas start to shine the further away you get, as the lower angle of radiaton starts to take over...
Let's not forget the I10k was also touted as a mythical legend when it came out althought it was basically identical to the Penetrator with a super duper matching network.
