    It's Been A Minute ...... Worked Japan on 10 M

Last weekend's ARRL contest nabbed me 6 Japan contacts on 10m, all solid signals and just using my EFLW.

    Anytone quad 6

My Quad 6 outputs around 70w and runs warm but not hot. Also has 1 small fan mounted to the heatsink. It's quiet yet draws air past the fins.

    Tube Tester Question

The 600 is a basic model most notably known for its excellent grid leakage test. Its emissions test isn't that accurate compared to better testers but it's adequate. It won't indicate GM so if you should someday need that feature, best get the better model Hickoks or Sencore MU150. The Sencore...

    10 meter is very quiet?

The band has its moments both ways but during daytime hours I've logged countries in S. America, Caribbean, & W. Europe. As to the "get a better antenna comment" I have to add that I have both vertical & horizontal types and the horiz. wire logs way more stations over the vertical.

    Yaesu MD100 mic question

I too have a FT-dx5000 w/ MD100 mic. and I leave the rig's eq settings at default, using just the settings on underside of the mic. I have received many good to excellent comments from operators near & far off. Mine is set primarily for DX pile-ups. One ham even recorded me & played back my...

    Analyzer

I own a Rig Expert. It's much better than any MFJ IMO for the same reasons stated in groundwire's reply above. Does Smith chart too.

ClearComm AR3500: need to identify parts for alignment

Trying to align an AR3500. I have the alignment procedures that lists what to connect to & what to adjust for, however the test points and coils are not labeled on the pcb among other items used as test points. Anyone got a pictorial or diagram labeling what is what? I've traced & identified TP...

    My AR3500 100Watt Radio

The AR3500 has strong modulation and clear audio as one of it's best features. It's a well designed and crafted set... better than Galaxy, President, RCI and other exports of its day. I own one as well.

    export radio poll

Its not a personal insult --- it was a satirical comparison to that tired looking mug shot guy you have for an avatar. If I remember correctly you recently had another picture of a sketchy looking, jail-bird resembling face for your avatar. Who's next on your list .... Danny Trejo? Don't break...

    export radio poll

Tired radio? Heh! That coming from someone with an avatar such as yours! Those style radios never get tired because they can be serviced unlike all of the present day radios with SMT, "no user serviceable parts inside" designed to be tossed away, along with having a poor MTBF spec. Leave the...

A working AR3500 for $25? Keep dreaming Dorothy, you'll eventually get to the land of Oz!

    export radio poll

Speaking of older radios, mention the Clear Com Ranger AR3500 and it would kick all their arses.... easy mod for 26-30MHz, more rf power and through the roof audio are just 3 of its many strong points. The radio was ahead of its time and still outperforms many of the late model garbage touted as...

    baofeng GT-3, UV5R, or UV82

You are referring to the Chirp software? If so, I'm unfamiliar with the effectiveness of that one--- concerned that it doesn't inadvertently foul up a new radio!

    baofeng GT-3, UV5R, or UV82

I have a UV-B5 and no complaints so far. Clear audio, effective squelch, easy access menu adjustments. It's size is very handy for pocketing. Amazing radio for under $40

What do you think of Baofeng?

Just bought a UV-B5 new for under $40 plus the programming cable/software. No complaints thus far and audio quality is quite decent.

    Hamfest Depression

I'd rather take my chances with eBay purchases I can at least follow up on if there's a problem... than buy at a hamfest. Yes hamfest prices are over inflated as are some of the sales pitches. You know d@mn well some of those hamfest goats are selling items that will only follow them back home...

    AR 3300 or HR 2510

I own a AR3500 and by far much better than any 2510 or 2600/clones. The only way to improve upon the AR3500 is to go with the Icom or Kenwood line, but now you are spending even more $$$.

    HR2510 verses HR2600

If you intend to connect it to an external amp, I would suggest selling it instead, make a little profit off of it and then get yourself a ClearCom Ranger AR3500. Overall, it's a significantly better radio and has a 150 watt RF amp built in. The radio is capable of operating from 10 thru 12...

How to care for old radios?

Even that's too much effort. That's what they have fruit cellars for.

    What a deal!

People can ask what ever price they want to for an item. Doesn't mean though that they will get that amount. Some folks believe their property is worth the sun, moon, and stars and others sell way too low, cheating themselves out of many dollars. That price is rediculous for that radio.
