Advice for Wire Reciving SWL Antenna

Well from what I understood, a choke will only benefit on a tuned antenna. A long wire shouldn't be effected as much from the feed cable since the feed is from the center copper wire, and the shield is HF grounded. Having the shield HF grounded seems to me like the equivalent of having your...

Advice for Wire Reciving SWL Antenna

In that case, I will probably continue with plan A and go with the long wire. Ill use the 100' length I have right now. So far for RF ground, I have been using what I have left of 1/2 copper pipe from making my Super-J. It is about 4 feet long and I have it pounded down into the ground, somewhat...

Advice for Wire Reciving SWL Antenna

I was planing on building this one as somewhat of a temporary antenna until i have some more money and more time to get the best I can for my area. I think I'm either going to do the long wire or an inverted V dipole since I have most the materials. I know the inverted V is supposed to be more...

Advice for Wire Reciving SWL Antenna

I never herd of a beverage antenna before but just looked it up. That is a really nice idea, however might be a bit bigger then I want to build at the moment. That and I don't know if my trees are up to supporting that amount of wire. That is possibly a good project for me in spring.

Advice for Wire Reciving SWL Antenna

I am planing on putting up an outdoor wire antenna, but I am a little undecided on what antenna I should make. Normally I would try experimenting with a few and choose the best, however I am running out of good weather and would like to get one up before snowfall. I am planing on using it for...

Problem With DX-160 on Band C

I believe that has fixed the problem. After re-soldering the joints, I cannot recreate the problem when tapping the sides of T13 anymore and signals seem to be coming in on Band C great now. Thank you everyone for your help. I'll let you know if it starts to act up, but I think that has fixed it.

Problem With DX-160 on Band C

Thanks again for replying. I checked T3, T8, and T13, they all seemed okay with the unit off so I decided to try to turn on the unit and see if Band C was working right now, and it is. I then decided to carefully prod gently on T3, T8, and T13. If I tap T13 on one side, Band C goes out, but...

Problem With DX-160 on Band C

Thank you guys for the replies. I don't think it is a problem with dirty contacts. I will try cleaning them later, but I did do a quick check before for connectivity between them with my multimeter, but should do a more thorough check I guess. If I am on Band C and switch to any other...

Problem With DX-160 on Band C

I recently got a used Realistic DX-160 and love it so far, however there is a problem I am having on Band C. I am not sure if the problem existed when I first got the radio since I have been doing most of my listening on Band D. The other night I noticed when tuning through Band C that I was...
