Anyone using the KX3 with HDSDR

I've owned a couple of KX3's and attempted to use them as a computer connected SDR. They failed miserably. Even with line isolators and several different sound cards. Grounding didn't seem to make a bit of difference. I never could get the images out of the panadapter. It reminded me of...

    First HF Rig - recommendations?

TS-2000 very noisy receiver on HF, but pretty darn good on VHF/UHF except for some satellite channels have "birdies". Some claim they are excellent on HF, but I've owned several of them early and later. All about the same. FT-857/897 (D) Actually a very good rig. Kind of flat sounding rx...

    Are you a ARRL Member?

I've been a member for several years. The recent fight over BPL convinced me that membership is worth every penny. Since I live in a rural area BPL would have impacted me greatly if it had been implemented. The ARRL helped snuff out the effort by holding companies and the FCC to the letter...

All buyers and traders beware Don Haaker w1cia scam artist

In trades like this the complaining party should have had the option of returning the gear and call the whole thing off. Both parties ship back at their expense. If you took it upon yourself to have the Swan repaired then I'd be less inclined to ship back the Yaesu FT-450. You shouldn't...

    Your vote on Modification

I always do what KC8ADU recommended. Very gently lift one end with a small soldering iron. The part stays in place (no storage needed), the part is out of the circuit to allow the mod to happen, and if you want to sell the equipment it's very easy to push it back into place to resolder it.

    SDR-1000

I had an SDR-1000 for a couple of years. Now I have the Flex-3000. Nice rigs. I'm curious how the latest software works for CW on yours. Up til V1.18 the CW worked fine, but after the new GUI (pretty betty) it pretty much sucked unless you had a very fast computer. They have completely...

Something for all the self-important hams.

I've been a ham for 40 years (DANG! That long!?) since a freshman in high school. I'm definitely not a "stuffed shirt" and spend my radio time SWLing, CBing, and repairing those old POS's boat anchors that some toss out as "unrepairable". After they're fixed do I talk on them? Hardly ever...

    Icom IC-9100 U.S. Price Announced

WHOA!!!! Guess this will keep the time tested Kenwood TS-2000 going for quite a while now. Though I own one I just wish it had a quieter HF receiver.

    BEST & WORST RIGS(HAM/CB RADIO)

Hi Guys, first post. Worst rig...easily the Swan 350. It drifted so bad the only way to calm it down was to plug the VFO adjustment access holes with aluminum foil to keep the temp steady in the oscillator compartment. Eico 753 almost as bad. Most products from Cubic corporation were of...
