Looks like you've been lurking for a while. Welcome to the forum Joe. Hope to see more posts from you. I'm not a high number poster either. I do more lurking and reading than posting. You learn more that way.

According to this link, there is no difference between the UV-82 and the UV-82L. Baofeng UV-82 and UV-82X at Baofeng Tech - USA's Best Source for New Baofeng Radios
And here is another link saying the same thing. Baofeng UV-82 Dual Band Handheld Transceiver
Anyone know otherwise?
I have both the UV-5R plus and UV-82. And I have a Yaesu FT-250.
I've had the Yaesu FT-250 for several years. And it is an excellent hand held, but it is only single band.
So I bough the UV-5R and the UV-82 so I could get on the 70cm with a handheld. Both of them together were about 1/3rd...
The Alinco DJ-V57T looks like a good choice. Instead of the Kenwood TM-281A, I would get a dual band.
But if there isn't any 70cm users in your area, the Kenwood would be a good choice.
Some people are obnoxious to get attention. Best thing would be if everyone would ignore him. But too many people can't resist the urge to respond to him.
I think so. I'm wanting to try to get a 1x2 or a 2x1. I figure I might as well start trying and sooner or later I'll snag one. But I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be considered until I'm listed in the FCC database as an extra.
Maybe I'm wrong?
Thanks guys.
I'm wanting to apply for a vanity call sign. But I might have to wait for a while because the FCC isn't processing any license applications or upgrades right now. And I have to wait for my extra class to be logged before I can apply for a new call sign.
From the looks of...
Thanks. I knew that I could use the extra frequencies by adding the /AE.
I'm just anxious to get the certificate though because I've been studying for the last month or so.
You will enjoy that Zero-Five vertical antenna. And you are right about Tom being a good guy to deal with. I have a 43 foot 10-160 meter multiband that I installed about three years ago. I am very pleased with the results. With it and a 160 meter dipole I can cover all of the HF bands.
If...
No, I have just about decided either a Yaesu FT-250R or FT-270R. The FT-250R is $114.95 and the FT-270R is ten bucks more.
I wouldn't be saving that much with a Wouxun.
I'm going to do some more researching before I make up my mind.
