i gotta give the guy kudos for knowing how to machine, market BS, and actually put together enough resonant stuff to get some radyation and a low swr. did you notice the reflector is insulated from the rest of boom? almost makes me think it's got something going on.
the bottom insulater is a little diferent because the screw comes out the other side and the shape of the big hoop match is a little diferent but almost the same. i bet they work the samre. it looks like the square plates that hold on the radial tubes is thiiner and bent diferent. i wonder what...
a myth i hear alot is that you can use base swrs in the mobile. how stupid to think that swrs that work high in the air can work in a mobile that is low to the ground.
but a better one is this one:
The only omni directional antenna that can beat ALL of the 5/8 waves is the Vector 4000. ...
its not meaningless to me that he hears me stronger like im half as far away. i also read back a few months about a guy testing diferent meters and they werent even close to 6dbs s units and those were hamm radios like his yazoo. now i come in like im 5 miles away from him but im 13 and he still...
im not yelling accurate or nothing like that but they just told me what they see on there meters. the pole they was on is a 2 part telescopping mast about 18 foot above my 14 foot high roof. i use 75 foot of rg8. one guy has a yazoo and said i went to almost an 8 from a 5 and he didnt believe i...
i'm confused. the second antenna i'm "testing against" not testing "to" would be the wide one if the first was the narrow one so how could the first one be "also wide"? when i got my gainmaster i treid it on the short mast where i have a old rasdio shack quarter waver hooked to a cobra89 to...
it seems to me if you got a narrower beam of light you got higher intensity so wouldn't you you still have more energy in that one spot? if the other antenna is like a flood lamp then wouldn't it be all below and above the other small spot so much it would be off of the antenna and wasted on the...
i agree about it being lighter duty then a $400 i10k but it performs just as well and all i did was tape it up and cover the coil with tape to.
it sure works like a $1000 antena
i dont think your being fair at all. i had a imax and it splintered after only 4 years and the swrs went threw the roof and i didnt need to tune the sirio so who needs them rings
I just got mine and cut away the shrink tubing to look at it. seems it might not be strong enough without ading some kind of support line above the rg393 modafication. I have some small twine ill epoxy there to take some of the load baring
Hey thanks eastside for bringing back this old thread. I read it and others and devcided to try adding radials to my imax. I just got of the roof and took of the parachute cord I had running from just below the imax and added metal guide wire 5/8 long like I read on another forum. I just tried...
ok now comes the time to spend money. i hope it beats my a99 at least $200 worth:drool: what about using epoxy? do you think thast is as invisible to rf as the hot glue?
thanks again. so you ended up cutting of about 3-4" of the black wire right? i have had bad luck with hot glue melting in the heat and summer gets real hot in phoenix. what about 20 minute epoxy instead?
