Practically any Jackson you will come across will have the AGC mod ... it blows my mind that Uniden never addressed this shortcoming during it's long production run.
Any tech worth a damn can do that with the proper equipment, the HR series is a straightforward radio and well documented. Tom had his followers was a good guy and I enjoyed visiting with him (even though I thought the neighborhood was sketchy) but the truth is anyone with radio repair knowledge...
Bobby, many shops ship to the USA ... When I looked at the McKinley EU, after currency conversion and shipping it looked to be cheapest from shops in the 13 Division.

I am becoming a cheap bass-turd in my old age and just can't seem to be able to do it ... 20 years ago I would have preordered a radio from a shop in the EU if it wasn't going to be released in the 2 Division.
Why do people list the Uniden Grant XL radios as Philippines or Philly built???
If I remember correctly they were all manufactured in the Philippines ... just saying.
All the Radio Shack/Realistic scanners I've owned that used a battery for memory retention used a 9 volt cell on the back of the radio. If there is not battery compartment I'd guess that it uses a capacitor to retain memory.
Do not use the 2510/2830/2600/lincoln service information ... the Alan 9001/Emperor Shogun should work. This is what I have for a TS 5010 service manual, I'm not sure if it is the same as what is on Benny's site. This was uploaded to the Service Manual section of the forum a few years ago.:
