    Rednecks

It was surveyed between 1763 and 1767 by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon over a border dispute between British colonies in Colonial America. It formed part of the borders of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia (now West Virginia). By the early 1800 is became know as the dividing...

    $60 LED Bulb

I had a CFL catch fire in my basement, thank God it happened when I was home. They can shove those "green" bulbs up their "brown" corn holes.

I STRONGLY recommend Chuck, K7QO's CW course. GET IT! Hell I'll loan you a dollar if you need. ;) "FISTS makes this wonderful course available (V3 is the latest and is MP3 only, you must have an MP3 player or computer to use). To obtain your copy send $1 per disk to cover the postage and...

Listen on 40M near 7.030 to 7.040, most of the QRP guys that run this part of the band are very good. When I was learning CW I kept a radio glued to 7.040 and was surprised at how fast my code picked up. As for spacing, for the love of all that's holy work on that. I cannot stand to...

Too slow is not trying at all! ;) Sounds like a great start to me, keep at it and speed will come to you. Practice using good spacing and accuracy, that's the mark of a good CW op not speed.

"Todd" runs new Ham off 28.425

Honestly the best thing to do is spin the big dial and let him be. I know I have so little time to operate these days and will not waste my time listening to his or anyone's antics. If he's a douche bag, he'll spring a leak and go away someday.

Cool. I have a key I made out of old relays from a Drake radio years ago. Works as good as any key made. If I was home brother I'd have a Q wit U!

Also for straight keying, hook the cable from the key to the tip and base. For a set of paddles, the dot (or left paddle) goes to the tip of the plug. The dah (or right paddle) goes to the ring (middle), the common or ground goes to the base. ALSO, make sue either way you use a stereo plug.

Look on page 44 of the manual. Follow the directions on page 50 where it talks about keyer type.

You made a keyer or a key? Refer to page 11 of the manual for wiring up a straight key vs. an Iambic paddle. In the CW menu, set option 5 to straight key. Also make sure break-in is set to full, or semi and not off.

    FCC trouble? What ya'll think?

That is the right thing to do. I know some of us "Hams" have a streak of self-righteous indignation when it comes to new radio ops or CBers. There are very few things worse than an ex CBer turned Ham who is full of himself. Also, it was very common back in the 50's for kids as...

    FCC trouble? What ya'll think?

How many of them are real Hams vs. 2M Rambo's? I have close to 100 "Hams" in my zip code and other than one group of Lids on 10M, I'm the only active Ham on HF. If I had a person move close to me and introduced himself and let me know he was setting up a station I would be impressed...

Radio Canada International to cease SW broadcasts later this year.

Try NPR, bullshit is bullshit. Now leave our neighbors alone, they gave us the greatest American of all time, Capt. James T. Kirk from Iowa! :thumbup1: I love Canadians, except those pesky frogs in Quebec. JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING! Last thing we need is for the RCAF to fire up...

How common is SSB on 2 meters and 70 centimeters?

Around these parts we listen to the standard calling frequency of 144.200, I scan up through 144.230 for SSB and down to 144.100 for CW. I keep watch on the spotting networks for 6M and 2M openings. Don't forget 432.100 too!

    Nothing else like it!

I was looking at the 6L6 circuits also, lots of them out there. I choose the 6T9 because it's a dual tube that works as an oscillator and amplifier. Low part count and pretty versatile little transmitter. I've been on 7.040 most nights and have been working folks like crazy. Amazing how many...
